| Fundamental Analysis | | | Fundamental analysis is the study of those factors that influence a company’s future earnings and dividend payout ability, and hence share price. Such factors include the company’s balance sheet and earnings, trends within the industry, new and competing product innovations, political factors, the quality of a company’s management, the product it produces, and so on.
Although we would encourage the use of fundamental analysis, investors need to be aware that there are some difficulties with fundamental analysis. The main problem is that it relies on historical information that may be months out of date while the market generally reflects the future expectations of investors.
